I spent all day at a site yesterday

I'm back at that site today. Doing data salvage.

See, the company's landlord had some contractors in to do drywalling.

The contractors didn't cover the computer equipment or server.

Which means a talc-fine grey gypsum dust got into everything.

We're seeing drive failures across the board.

It's a dirty, nasty, nightmare.

Foley Huck Batman! However, I can't blame the contractors completely since the company's IT person should have taken care of their equipment. If the landlord didn't tell the client then they should be liable for part of the cost.

my outfit has no budget to protect equipment.

I'll probably have to face the same at our office *sigh*.
