"Emilia Murry Ramey and Jody John Ramey met through a mutual friend. They soon discovered they had more in common than their friend. Both were students at Portland State University. And both have autism.
The Vancouver couple are among the estimated 1.5 million Americans living with the effects of some degree of autism.
Specifically, Emilia and Jody both have Asperger syndrome, marked by social awkwardness and a lack of understanding of conventional social rules."

Date: 2008-02-24 07:57 pm (UTC)Also "eccentric" is often diagnosed in children as being "Asperger's", and it's a rather specific diagnosis within a much larger range of autism spectrum disorders. (We were worried my son had Asperger's for awhile and I've done more reading on this than maybe even I should have).
Whether or not you specifically have it, I'd have no way of knowing (OF COURSE!), but I do notice a bit of a "disease of the week" quality to it as well and it pisses me off because of misdiagnosis and misapplied treatment FROM that misdiagnosis.
Yes, it can be a serious pain in the ass. I'd agree with that. If you can get a diagnosis from someone who knows what the hell they're doing, you can also find there are some great resources to give coping ideas as well. Sounds to me, though, like you're in a mindset where you've already picked up a lot already.
