When Doha was prepping for the Asian Games in 2006, a lot of expats suspected it was a dry run for an Olympic bid.

We were right.

Since the 2006 Asian games in Doha for starters. Besides which, Qatar is a bit more relaxed than KSA on such things......

I'm aware it's more relaxed. I'm just also aware that it's a small country surrounded by larger, more formal ones.

Well, most of the other Gulf states are a bit more relaxed than Qatar.

It's the 800 lb gorilla called KSA that's another matter entirely.

However, I suspect if the al-Thanis cut the house of Saud in on some of the action, most of the objections will magically disappear.
