Eeep!!!

Last week was my week for the universe constantly deciding to surprise and delight me it seems.

Last friday, got up to the house that Little Bit's mum shares with her boyfriend. After having a almost 3-year old shreak "Daddy!!" and hurl herself into my arms, I then found that Little Bit's mum had a surprise for me.

A brand new, Tasty Harp Company 26-string "Sharpsicle" lap harp. In Purple. (Plus carry bag, tuner, etc.)

wOOt!!!!

Needless to say, I'm quite happy about this. While I'm getting used to the string spacing, (and having to retune every few minutes), I got decent enough to play a few nursery songs for Little Bit by the time I had to head back to SD.

Needless to say, I'm quite happy about this. While I'm getting used to the string spacing, (and having to retune every few minutes), I got decent enough to play a few nursery songs for Little Bit by the time I had to head back to SD.

Three notes on the new harp

The Sharpsicle itself is wonderful. But I suspect I'm going to have make a couple of changes on some things

First off, I think I may get one of the Harpsicle sticks to better balance it on my knees.

The soft-side "Harpsicle Wrapper" is nice, but the large side pocket, (just right to carry songbooks, tuner, key, extra strings, etc.), needs a flap or closure on it. Something to do in a few days I suspect.

And I think I'm going to find a shoulder strap for it that doesn't look like the suspenders from "Mork and Mindy". Hmmmm......I wander if I could commission / bribe one of my inkle weaving addict friends to make me a custom strap for it.....
