Okay, am I the only one who finds this a bit creepy??

Elf on the Shelf

"This charming tradition began for our family when my children were very small. Plagued by their desire to know how Santa really knew who had been naughty or nice, I searched through the Christmas decorations for a plausible explanation. Nestled among them was the answer; a small elf doll from my own childhood. With that discovery, the idea for the elf tradition was born.

At our home the elf would arrive around the holidays, usually at Thanksgiving. His sole responsibility was to watch my children's behavior and report it to "Santa" each night. The next morning after the children awoke, they discovered the elf had returned from the "North Pole" (with some parental assistance) and was hiding in a different place. My children would race each other out of bed to try and be the first to spy him in his new position."

Wonder if this toy is DHS approved.......

Okay, I'm reading this article and getting a really bad Barn of the Blood Llama flashback.

Not that there are GOOD Barn of the Blood Llama flashbacks, mind you......

Llamas Enlisted to Thwart Biological Weapons

"If terrorists ever unleashed a biological weapon, unusual molecules normally found in the blood of llamas could quickly help warn of the attack, scientists now report.

Researchers at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington and their colleagues experimented with antibodies, which act as the red flags and magic bullets of the body's personal defense arsenal.

(Snip)

Biochemist Ellen Goldman at the Naval Research Laboratory with virologist Andrew Hayhurst at the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research and their colleagues investigated llama antibodies. Past studies revealed that the binding regions of these antibodies and those from camels and sharks are unusually small, just one-tenth the size of common human antibodies."

Take the first line out of the first post of each month and post them with the month and no explanations.

January - It is 12:10 am here in Qatar, Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006.
February - The Beast - 50 most Loathsome People in America, 2005
March - "The net is like a vast sea of lutefisk with tiny dinosaur brains embedded in it here and there. Any given spoonful will likely have an IQ of 1, but occasional spoonfuls may have an IQ more than six times that!" -- James 'Kibo' Parry
April - This is what the high-fashion conspiracy buff is wearing this year. Stylish, comfortable, and blocks out those nasty EMF rays....
May - A vote for most questionable toy since the Harry Potter Vibrating broomstick toy........
June - Right now I feel so much like something the cat tried to hide under the rug.
July - Right now it is 1:00am on July 1st, 2006. At least here in Doha.
August - While pulling a fiber channel card out of a G5, I got cut by the blasted thing.
September - Well, hearing the high cry of "DADDY" as a Little Bit flung herself into my arms in San Diego's airport.
October - Because some headhunters just run keywords on a particular word or phrase, I get some interesting job requests.
Novemeber - Politically I joke I'm that rare bird, the endangered North American moderate
December - Since ICANN closed for the day, I find myself in San Diego for a day or two getting stuff packed.
