(Conversation between me and a co-worker as I'm leaving for a break with a mini-kite in hand

Them: "What's that?"

Me:"A kite. The wind is particularly good today"

Them: "What are you going to do with it?"

Me:"Thought I'd fly it"

Them: (Puzzled look) "Why?"

Me: (being silly) "Well, the wind sometimes effects our network connection to the university. So every so often I go fly a kite to see if the wind is bad enough to switch lines."

Them: (Lightbulb flickers behind eyes) "Oh! Okay, I understand."

(They walk off impressed by their understanding of arcane technical matters as I go off to fly my kite and wonder about the human race.)

*snickers* That had to be fun. I wish I could have been there.

*thinks*

Wait. No I don't. I'd have probably believed you.

:-) I just found several more of my kites where they'd been accidently stowed. Unfortunately, work isn't a great place for flying kites -- too flat, too many buildings nearby, and not enough wind.

Fortunately, it has a great parking lot for roller-skating. A friend just gave me some wonderful rollerskates. Not inline. With glitter on them. Time to go skating...

I always find it silly when people expect adults to be grownups all of the time. Being an adult means I get to choose.

I occasionally fly my li'l pocket kite in front of our 30-story office. People coming over the footbridge that spans Avenue of the Stars often get goofy grins when they see this bright, multi-colored thing dancing above the bamboo. I wonder if it's windy enough, today?
