So the kids are doing tie-dye outside on the sidewalk. The art teacher invited me to make one for myself and for Little Bit as well.

So while I'm soaking the first shirt in vinegar, one of the older kids asks why we have to soak them in vinegar before untying them and hanging them up to dry.

I ended up giving a 10 minute discussion on fixing the dye, mordants, and how dyeing would be done using plant and mineral sources.

The art teacher had a look between "I do not believe I'm hearing the IT geek talk about this" and "hey, you, wait, we need to talk"
