Balut is a phenomenon of nature. It's a fermented food. Stinky and vile in its way, but a natural, maybe even good-for-you food full of enzymes and trace vitamins and minerals.
Even durian can be excused by saying "It grew that way, the gods MUST have had a purpose for it."
But this vile shit could only be made worse by turning it into some vile perversion of a Monte Cristo. Wouldn't THAT be terrifying?
