Last night I got a spam for "Hot BBW Chicks".

The picture with it had a couple women who looked......normal. Normal size, normal figure. They looked like regular women, not annorexic 12 year old boys with boob jobs.

And I'm thinking "WTF??? On what planet is THIS considered 'BBW'??"

Now I'm biased. I happen to like curves on a woman. But my Gods, these were NOT what I would call "Big Beautiful Women". Hell, these looked like the pin-up models from the 30's though 50's.

What the hell got so fucked up in our culture that someone has to look like a famine victim in order to be considered attractive, and *normal* somehow became "overweight fetish material" ???

Grumble gripe bitch complain.

Speaking as a BBW all my life, back when rocks were soft, the "standard" for BBW's was size 18 and above. When I hit my 30s, it had lowered to size 16 and above. In the past 10 years, it has been size 14 and above. I agree with you. Women who are size 14 and 16 are for the most part, perfectly normal average women. The only people who shouldn't wear that size are women who are only 4'8" tall. It is the fashion industry, backed by the movie industry, who have been dictating what is the ideal body size for women for the past 40 years. Who ever heard of anorexia or bulemia 100+ years ago? On the other hand, years ago, I joined NAAFA [National Association for the Advancement of Fat Acceptance] and several of the men that I met at meetings said that they were interested in dating me, but would only do so if I gained 100 to 150 more pounds. I spent many years being very frustrated. Too big for the average male, too small for the men who liked fat women. Fortunately, I have found someone who loves me just as I am.

Good for you in finding someone!

I tend to be attracted to personalities, not body type myself. So I don't understand the "feeder" fetish either.

If someone is healthy and secure in their self-image, what the hell does it matter WHAT size someone is??

And that explains EXACTLY why I am single.

As someone who has been a BBW all my life, I wonder if I'll ever see a time when I don't feel disdain from "popular culture" - thank the Gods I finally found sub-cultures where I feel accepted and even desired FOR my curves.

Like I said, I'm biased by the fact I happen to *like* curvy women.

But that being said, when the hell did *normal* become BBW??

*grumble*

I am glad to hear you say this- my whole life my dad (he raised me alone) told me I was fat. 5'6" almost 5'7" and 130 - 140lbs. Eating disorders abound. And society doesn't help. The fact that you are alert, and sensitive will help steet Little Bit in the right direction with a positive body image. *hugs*

Yeah, I'm seeing the same thing for "Bear" pics. Young skinny guys with just a bit of a "happy trail." Sure, "bear".

????
That's so very WTF.

mass media / popularist claptrap - seems to be getting worse....
Next, Twiggy will be considered a BBW... *sigh* and that skeleton on Ranma (Betty-chan) will be considered slightly overweight.
*grumble*
