From a political board I'm on:

"Why would anyone eat MRE's unless out of necessity? And by "necessity", I mean there were no weak human beings around to cannibalize."

*chuckle*

Actually I kinda like MRE's. At least they're better than the c-rats I had during Easter Encampments at Ft. Ord in my Army JROTC days. :-)

Because you only have to eat once a day on them, and what you don't eat you use as barter material for stuff you will eat. :)

Hehehe. Reminds me of [livejournal.com profile] bagelfather's roommate V, who eats them regularly as they don't require cooking. V also was the one to have the following conversation:

V: (to [livejournal.com profile] bagelfather) We have a situation.
[livejournal.com profile] bagelfather: (thinks "oh, god, the water line burst or the electricity is going to be turned off.") OK, what's the situation?
V: The microwave is broken. And I am hungry.

Obviously, the microwave is the only tool he uses in food prep.
