Took a half day on thursday and went up to downtown LA. (Mind you, I drove into Downtown, which was a mistake. Should have parked near a light rail or metrolink station and taken the red line to the civic centre).
The reason for this was something I read on the Roadside America website, which was the Southern California stop of the Colossal Colon, a 40 foot replica of a human colon you can crawl though. At various points in the Colossal Colon, you can see various diseases of the colon, ranging from polyups and the like to full-blown colon cancer.
Also met the creator of the Colossal Colon, Molly McMaster, who is a survivor of colon cancer and travels with her creation around the US. (side note: Molly McMaster is also the niece of one of my favourite SF/F authors, Lois McMaster Bujold)
I should have brought my camera. Was interesting, in a slightly demented sort of way
