So Saturday [livejournal.com profile] seattlejo, Little Bit, and I went to the Jimi Hendrix Museum Experience Music Project / Science Fiction Museum at Seattle Center.

The EMP was kinda - meh. Seemed really disorganized and unfocused.

The SFM was interesting, in the "Wow, so this is what a fan does when they get money!" way. I was startled with a tear when I saw the forest dome from "Silent Running". I giggled when I saw Twiki from "Buck Rodgers in the Spandex Century" (Just once I wanted to hear "bede bede beep Get Stuffed Buck") Seeing the Captain's chair from the original Star Trek series. Books that I went "Oh, I read THAT!" Things like that.

The Jim Henson exhibit was fun too. Though it would have been nicer if it was bigger.

All in all a nice day. That being said, there is something I'd like to say....

JUST WHAT THE HELL WERE THE DESIGNERS COMING UP WITH WHEN THEY DESIGNED THAT BUILDING?????

(Larger shot here)

I understand they wanted the building to reflect the 60's music scene, but did Frank Gehry really have to drop acid before designing something that looks more like a a R'lyeh brothel than anything else?? Seriously, a building should not look like it requires chemotherapy..........

It actually looks better from that view than looking at if from the ground level. From my perspective it always looked like multi-coloured metal vomit.

As a friend pointed out, 'what were they SMOKING?' might be a better question.

He's still on acid. Seen the Disney Hall in the Music Center? OK it's supposedly acoustic perfection, but it's still fugly.

GAWSP...so there actually IS a building uglier and stranger looking than the Walker Art Museum (aka the tin can on the shore of the river)!!

Believe it or not, that POS is supposed to resemble a guitar. What it really reminds me of is something a seagull horked up and spat out and then shat upon down on Elliot Bay.
