A warning

A warning to all MCI Neighborhood customers. If your calling card is lost or stolen, MCI has absolutely no intent to credit you for the charges ran up on it, and will hold you liable for all charges - even if you report the card as missing or stolen

My card disappeared during WorldCon. I reported it. MCI's high toll department was helpful, but could do nothing about the charges that was ran up on it. MCI's fraud department has no desire to help in anyway. Their only advice to me about the card was to report it as stolen to the local police, and would *not* credit me the amount of money that was ran up on it. Their exact words were "You're screwed."

Best advice I can give people is destroy their MCI calling card, and do not get a duplicate. You will be charged for any calls made on it, and MCI's fraud department will have no desire to credit you for anything.

I have reported MCI to the California PUC and to the Better Business Bureau. However, I still have to cough up almost $300 or my service will be cut off.
