Gund roll down, go boom
Mar. 27th, 2003 06:36 pmWas taking a walk around work today. (Work being high up on the bluffs above the ocean near Torrey Pines.
There's a canyon behind my workplace that leads down past the bluffs and ends up at the nude beach, (or former nude beach), that's below the area. I managed to discover there's a creek down there in the canyon.
Discovered it the hard way, when I tripped, fell, rolled down the hill and over a 8-foot ledge into some iceplant and sand.
(Secret Diary fans will be happy to learn I did not break my carrot. :-)
My pants, on the other hand, were both clean and intact this morning. They are no longer such. Dusty-dirty and one knee is torn out. Assorted scrapes and cuts, and I'm going to have some interesting bruises in the morning.
Getting back up was the fun part. Had two options.
1) follow the canyon inland and uphill until I could find a ledge low enough for me to climb over and then uphill.
2) follow canyon down to the former nude beach down the hill, then follow the beach up to one of the walkways, go up the walkway, and then walk back to work on the streets.
Chose option #1. A bit of a climb, and two places I had to chimney-climb, but I managed to get back up the hill in 35-40 minutes. Mind you, I was quite filthy and battered in places. And my stomach is still queasy from the fall and the amount of dust and pollen I managed to get on/in me while climbing back up.
