Why this is hell. Nor am I out of it.
Jul. 21st, 2003 12:07 pmWhile the doctor gave me until the 25th for leave, I came back today while I still had some vacation time left. (otherwise I would have had two more paid days before going on unpaid leave,)
I should have stayed out.
Not only has my office been trashed and equipment is scattered from hell to breakfast, but clueless wonder boss has a reoccuring email problem due to the fact she lets her Eudora mailboxes get up to the 75MB to 1GB range before archiving, and Eudora's email boxes get flaker than french pastry at anything above 20MB in size.
Plus I have a computer that I ordered before I left that was needed today and still hasn't arrived. Now this is great. Researchers don't get me the specs on the system needed until mid-June. I spec the system out, put together an order form, and (since it's above $500), bring it to clueless wonder boss for approval.
Where it sits on her desk for three fricking weeks, (and she ignores three reminders done via email), before she decides it's a bloody emergency and this system needs to be ordered now. Finally get the order signed a day before I go out on leave. It's marked "rush", should take 7-10 days.
We're on day 10 now, and purchasing (who seems to have a different definition of "rush" than I do), didn't even make the order until two days after I submitted it. Meanwhile, it's needed today. Which means I may have to get a grand or two out of the cashier's office, and go to Fry's or CompUSA to buy the dammed thing today.
And, get this, somehow this is all my fault, according to my idiot boss, for not getting the order in faster.
The woman needs to be placed into conservatorship. Fast.

(Can you tell, this isn't the first time I've had this sort of discussion?)

She's gotten a lot worse in the almost 2 years I've been here. I suspect she's had so many microstrokes her brain is looking like a particularly runny swiss cheese.
I repeat....

See you soon.
A couple of thoughts...
Date: 2003-07-21 05:56 pm (UTC)While it is very difficult to extract ricin from castor beans, they can still kill a person.
Euthanasia solution, if taken orally, can still kill a person if enough is swallowed.
Keep on picturing the woman boxed up and sent to Kuala Lumpur via parcel post, and smile quietly. Then hit a job search for something that suits your talents without a horrible boss.
