Mild Annoyance
Jul. 23rd, 2003 09:34 amFor a few months now, I've been saving up for a particular item for my collection of prop weapons. To be precise, I was saving for a Parks Saber (preferably the Echelon)
These sabers are wonderful. Metal cases with Electroluminesant "blades" that snap in and out of the saber unit. The EL "blade" is in a clear polycarbonate shell, and can withstand full-force blows from a shinai.
(Hmmm......doubt the current king would allow them either. Though it would give a whole new meaning to "light weapons" fighting.........)
Well, they were at ComicCon. And the Echelon was at a special con price to boot, almost $49 less than normal.
However, I didn't know just how much of a financial hit I was going to take from family leave time taken this month, so I (with great reluctance), decided to hold off on getting the saber.
I found out yesterday that all of my leave will be covered by sick time, and I'll take no financial hit this next paycheque.
I'm somewhat annoyed now. Sometimes it's a real pain being a responsible adult.........
