Random Irritations
Oct. 16th, 2003 09:29 amWell, after three weeks, purchasing called to say they couldn't get the FireWire DVD burner I ordered, (and had to go get a second one at Fry's because they were taking so long to order it.)
However, they said it was because it was "Discontinued" and nobody had it in stock. I thought this was odd, so I checked.
Company who makes the burner - not discontinued, gave me a list of on-line stores that sell it.
MacMall (ugh!) had it in stock
J&S Camera and Computer had it in stock
Microwarehouse had it in stock
Fry's Outpost had it in stock
Every single bloody place I checked and called had it in stock!
So I called the purchasing person back, and emailed him all the links to places that had it in stock.
His response was that none of the corporate contacts at those very same companies said they were in stock, and either he'd order a simular burner from a different company, or cancel the order. Since we needed the burner ASAP, I grudgingly said yes.
Oh, and a friend of mine ordered that very same DVD burner from one of the places that the purchasing twit said didn't have it. Either they have a seperate corporate inventory from their usual retail sales, or someone is smoking large chunks of monkey crack, because the order was confirmed, UPS shipping number given, and he'll have it tomorrow.
Annoyance. Major annoyance.
