Okay, granted that some may see me as a clueless unmarried hetrosexual with questionable religious beliefs and almost (gasp!) liberal beliefs on some subjects.
That being said, after seeing the media hype over Brittney "Oops I screwed up again" Spears' quickie marriage/annulment in Vegas, I wonder how on earth people can say that allowing Gays and Lesbians the right to marry their partners will somehow destroy marriage.
I mean, how in the world is letting people who love each other and want to build a lifetime comittment supposed to be **WORSE** than Spears and her friends "Oops, sorry, this was just a joke that went too far" marriage to each other?? Personally, I think *that* caused more damage to the spirit and intention of marriage than any number of Gays and Lesbians marrying could.
I guess in the minds of some people though, it's all okay, because it was a single man and woman getting married "as a joke", rather than a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, getting married because they want to spend their lives and build a future together.
Blegh
