It's starting to look more and more like LinuCon in Austin is not going to be a happening thing this year. Bother.
Since I already have some of the time marked out, and need to get away from the lab for a while anyway, kicking around a plan b idea, that would be reasonably low cost and would allow me to indulge a hobby
Thinking of taking a drive up old Hwy 99, stopping on the RidgeRoute to get pictures of the portions that aren't under Pyramid Lake, and then on up though central california. If I'm feeling really daring, maybe drive as much of Hwy 99 as I can though Oregon and Washington, and maybe make a day trip to Canada, which I've never been to but always wanted to go.
Then back down via US 101, visit friends in the Bay Area for a couple of days, and then continue down the coast, again playing shutterbug along the old highways.
As I said, a moderately low-cost road trip, esp. if I only do the California legs of it. May have to think about it.
