"Without the fear of contradiction, one can reasonably say Qatar is the dullest place on the planet;. Now, that may seem like hyperbole, especially when contrasted with places like Possum Trot, Slades Corners and Edinburgh; but I stand by my assessment. For, you see, its not just my assessment alone, but also the consensus of hundreds of expats living in Qatar from well over 30 different countries. Also, it is meant to be a descriptive assessment of the country, and not at all disparaging. Dull can be quite well and good: several in and (some might say all) of Hollywood have exploited dull for billions upon billions of dollars. The music industry, as another example, is itself steeped in dull; to the point of almost, but not quite, achieving interesting. Art has raised dull to, well, an art form. And when contrasted with the exciting, dangerous and deadly seriousness of global conflicts in places like Colombia, Sri Lanka, and Clines Corners, New Mexico; dull can be a positively attractive trait."
