Restaurant Recommendation
May. 7th, 2005 12:47 amAs a thanks for fixing her iMac,
caprine took me out to dinner Friday evening.
The place? Bai Yook in Hillcrest.
Oh my. Very, very good.
We split a Beef Satay appitizer. The satay sauce was nice without being too hot. Which whetted our appitite for the main courses, which we shared.
One course was Chicken Garlic Pepper, (Sautéed chicken, garlic & pepper with a special sauce). very nice spicing, not too hot, really good flavour. Could have used a little more cilantro, but still good. Would like to go back and try this with Squid or Shrimp.
The other was a Chicken Massaman Curry, (A sweet thick paste of brown curry and coconut milk with potato, onions, carrots, & peanuts.), which went very well over the rice provided.
I tried the Thai Iced Tea, but honestly that was a bit too sweet for my liking. Oh well.
There's a couple more things I'd like to go back and try, particularly the Pad Khing, the Pad Woo Sen, the Lemon Grass & Shrimp Paste, and the "Tiger Cry", (Marinated beef grilled with garlic & pepper served with crushed chili & lime juice.)
Highly recommend the place.
