In the middle of all the SoCal Fire stuff, I didn't even find out about these bits of random stupidity until now.

First off, Shrub managed to follow up that assine "Protection of Marriage" week with "Protection from Pornography Week". Oh fricking puh-leze!! (Though observing this week with "appropriate programs and activities" could take on a whole new meaning......)

And second off, a batch of marriage counselors are calling mixed-gender relationships as a "form of emotional cheating". Say what???? So, just because the majority of my closest friends are female, then I'm somehow **cheating** on any primary relationship I'm in? Sorry, wrong! Come on, one of the reasons I wrote off the PlayHobbit as a possible interest was because she didn't feel anyone she was dating should have any female friends. (Okay, another reason was that she was dumber than dirt as well) Gag........

Okay, I will grant that any relationship of whatever type in which one feels the need to hide details from one's spouse/partner/significant other/whatever are signs of a problem in the main relationship. But just dinging someone because their close friends are of the opposite gender, (or, I suspect same gender if one is in a same-gender relationship), is bulldada.

eeegags... Cheating isn't having friends, who you are close to, care and love!

*shakes head*

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] dancing_star and [livejournal.com profile] thats_ms_dragon: I have a lot of close friends who are female, and with whom I talk about subjects that don't often come up in discussions with either or both of you.

I guess I'm cheating on you; my apologies.

I'll make sure that I have no other friends outside of the two of you; I should become a nice little robotic income-provider and to hell with any personality I should happen to possess anyway; I'm not supposed to have a personality, I'm married.

(Ye Ghods, I'm in a pissy mood this evening. Feh.)

No, keep your friends, I'm sure if it is something we need to know you'll make sure we do... Cheat away dear!

I got that one wrong too...

...on my college Human Sexuality final. Emotionally intimate friendships with members of the opposite sex (besides the spouse) do not fall within the definition of conventional monogamy somehow. Go figure.

I guess The System figures they might be competition for your spouse and threaten your relationship that way, rather than being sources of support esp. when your spouse can't be.

Shrub is insane. Just for him, I'm wearing my QOW shirt tomorrow to work. And the other article? It sounds just like what I heard from my family and my ex for years. These counselors are giving bad advice and feeding insecure abusive relationships with it.
