patgundDoes anyone out there know anything about Satellite TV??
The new apartment has a Satellite system for the entire complex, that recieves programming from Hotbird and Nilesat. Most of the channels I'd want, (Discovery, BBC prime, etc.) are encrypted. There is a smart card slot on the reciever, and I've been told that I can buy a smart card to decrypt those channels.
However, I've since been told that what I really need to do is "buy a reciever that can open Multivision by inputting the codes by remote" so I can just input the hex codes for decrypt. Other people have said I just need to get a cheap PC and a Sat card for it, and use that to handle the decryption. And what I really need is "Satellite TV for dummies" so I can figure out what the hell they're talking about.
