patgundCunningham pleads guilty, resigns from Congress
"Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham resigned from Congress Monday morning after pleading guilty to conspiring to take bribes in exchange for using his influence to help a defense contractor get business.
"I was not strong enough to face the truth," Cunningham said in a news conference outside the federal courthouse, his voice breaking. "The truth is I broke the law, concealed my conduct and disgraced my office."
"In my life, I have known great joy and great sorrow. Now I also know great shame. I intend to use the remaining time as God grants me, to make amends."
Pity it wasn't Duncan Hunter instead of Cunningham.
