Oh Please!!!!
Dec. 8th, 2003 09:25 amHas the US, as a Nation, gotten so bloody thin-skinned that we object to people from other countries showing the same patriotism for their flag that we want to show for ours???
Canadian flag causes flap in the U.S.
"Some participants expressed a certain amount of annoyance at what is perceived as a systematic attempt by Canadians to make the statement that they are not Americans by sporting the maple leaf,"
Well, gee, you know what, they're *not* US Americans. They're Canadians, North Americans if you will.
"For instance, an American from San Diego is quoted saying: "What bugs me about Canadians, if I may, is that they wear that damn patch on their bags, the Canadian flag patch. That way, they differentiate themselves from us."
You know, that may be because they *are* different. Different country, a somewhat different culture, etc.
"Americans express irritation at the habit of Canadians using the flag while travelling to express nationality."
And just why, my fellow US Americans, would this be any different that using the Stars and Stripes to express our nationality while traveling?? (Shakes head)
(SIGH)

Date: 2003-12-08 01:54 pm (UTC)I've just never established more than six months residency in any one year -- and that was nearly 20 years ago, now.
Yup, that's their view of us: "Big and strong, and never wrong. And idiots."
PS: If any of the old gang from Mississauga or Hamilton happen to read this; I'm sorry, I really am. I'm only one voter, and nothing I've voted for has happened 'my' way -- the whole Bush thing, the Iraq thing, the stupidity, the stupidity, the stupidity. And The new idiot governor. I tried. I really did. I'm sorry. I did what I could.
