In another example of how people can be complete selfish bastards, I offer this.

I live in a high-end trailer park. The trailers here are all double and triple-wides, and can cost as much as a small home in SoCal. They're not even trailers anymore, they're "manufactured housing".

When I started living there, it was "adults-only", nobody under 18 allowed. However, it later became a "seniors-only" park. And while the non-seniors living there were "grandfathered" in, there's a definite attitude problem with management and some residents against the younger residents in the park. I leave early morning for work and return later at night, so I don't usually get much hassle unless I'm using the clubhouse, spa, or swimming pool.

There's a gentleman giving in the space next to mine. He's a couple of years older than I, and works summers as a CDF firefighter. The rest of the year he's a general handyman and odd jobs person. The management of the park would love to get rid of him.

When we had the fires at the end of October, he used the available hoses in the park to extingish a small fire at the clubhouse, and then went on to help keep the fires that claimed two houses from spreading to other spaces. He also propped the security gate open so that the fire trucks and sherriff cars that could respond would. Several people in the spaces around the destroyed houses wanted to publically thank him for his saving their spaces, and the park newsletter editor wrote a one page article about him with picture.

However, management threatened him with arrest, accusing him of stealing a VCR from the clubhouse during the fires, (the VCR was later found with a looter in El Cajon, no relationship to the gut next to me), and then claiming that he didn't do any of the actions that people wanted to thank him for - and that he broke the gate by propping it open. They wouldn't allow people to have a thank you party for him in the clubhouse, and the newsletter editor resigned when management removed the article from the newsletter. (The newsletter is now being done by management)

I think this is pretty shitty. This guy helped save some houses and their precious clubhouse, yet management can't get over their dislike of him to say thank you, or allow anyone else to. Makes me wonder what would happen if I performed CPR on someone in the park - would I get accused of assaulting someone if I did??

Stupid, petty, idiotic people....
