patgundLet me get this straight.....
Keith Ellison, a native born American who happens to be an Islamic convert, wins a seat in the US House of Represenatives. Big fuss and bother by some in the "right-wing", attacks by CNN hosts, and a fellow US Represenative making alarmist comments on how this will increase illegal immigration and cause more Muslims to be elected to public office.
Zalmay Khalilzad, a Afghan-born immigrant, is offered by the White House to the post of US Ambassador to the United Nations, meaning a Muslim immigrant will be the face of the US at the United Nations.
Wonder if Dennis Prager, or Rep. Virgil Goode will speak out against the nomination of Khalilzad? Or is the objection to Ellison less due to his faith, and more due to the "D" after his name rather than a "R"?
I also find it curious that all the fuss and hoopla was about Keith Ellison, when another faith *also* appeared for the first time in Congress. (Rep. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, a Buddhist and a Japanese immigrant, and Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Georgia, also a Buddhist.)
