We're in Edmonds right now. Sure enough, most of the roads north were pooched. We stopped at Car Toys and grabbed two TomToms, one for each car. They're proving invaluable right now.
We used a short cut to get there though. Went to Golden Gardens and used the rails to get around the roads. Slow and nerve-wracking, because you have to make sure you stay ON the rails. But it worked to get around most of the roads.
The radio tells people to try to get to Anacortes. They're using the Orcas as a staging area, and ferries are working back and fourth right now. They've even pressed back into service the Steel Electrics. Guess they figured it was worth the risk.
The US Navy has every ship that could get steam out of their ports in the sound, and there's some discussion of using volunteer crews in tugs to try and pull out the aircraft carriers in mothballs as floating evac centres.
Salt water seems to be the key in getting the zombies knocked down. Still, we made a run on camping gear, and DEET spray in case there's an insect vector. They're saying 7 days to 2 weeks before it's safe to go home. Seems the zombies don't last past 24-36 hours, but there's always the chance of secondary infections.
Gahh. What a day
