On Writing.......
Aug. 12th, 2008 12:47 pmI've been doing a lot of writing lately, almost all political in nature. This has been encouraged, and I'm forced to admit that I seem to have a knack for looking at a situation, pulling the data together, and drawing a conclusion. The fact that I'm getting a lot of positive feedback for it is an encouraging sign.
Do you know how much fun it was to write that Bad Movie Review of "Wizards of the Demon Sword" last night?
I'm proud of the political writing. But at the same time I feel like I'm cheating, like I'm pointing out the blindingly obvious when I write about political subjects. To me, this is stuff anyone with an IQ above room temperature should know. I don't care if people agree or disagree with me, as long as they base their reaction on reasoned debate and thought, not rumours, lies, myths, or gotchas. I respect someone who disagrees with me far more, but bases their opinion on reason and thought, than someone who blindly agrees with me.
But honestly?? There are times I'd rather be known better for snarky movie reviews than political commentary.
