More fallout on Dr. David McKalip's racist email. Seems the Florida Medical Association took him out behind the woodshed.
In addition to that, Florida State Rep Darryl Rouson called for Dr. McKalip to resign his positions as president-elect of the Pinellas County Medical Association and as a board member of the Florida Medical Association.
Dr. McKalip did offer an apology though a PR rep.
One has to wonder if he's more upset that he got publically caught in his racism. Because this is what he sent his "tea bagging" friends.
Yeah, I think he's sorry. Sorry he got exposed as a racist pinhead. Sorry he publically got called out on it. Sorry that it might affect his pocketbook. But sorry for the racism? Not at all.
You know, maybe he should get together with Dr. Orly's zampolit Dr. Earl-Graef. They're both examples of doctors who are letting their personal feelings and hatreds overwhelm their common sense.

"But we're not racists, honest!!!!"
"The Florida Medical Association is an organization with a zero-tolerance for racist or discriminatory behavior. As such, we do not condone the circulation of what has been described by the press as a racist depiction of President Obama by David McKalip, MD. Dr. McKalip's actions do not in anyway reflect the positions, attitudes or culture of the Florida Medical Association.
The Florida Medical Association finds the actions by Dr. McKalip to be hurtful and in poor judgment. Further, we find his actions disrespectful to President Obama and the Office of the President. The Florida Medical Association is disappointed by Dr. McKalip's actions and urges Dr. McKalip to extend President Obama an apology for this egregious deed."
In addition to that, Florida State Rep Darryl Rouson called for Dr. McKalip to resign his positions as president-elect of the Pinellas County Medical Association and as a board member of the Florida Medical Association.
"This is absolutely terrible," wrote Rouson, D-St. Petersburg, in an e-mail to the St. Petersburg Times Thursday night. "I am immediately calling for his resignation and for the FMA to right now distance themselves from this outrageous act."
Rouson is the former president of the St. Petersburg NAACP."

"DR. DAVID MCKALIP SENDS APOLOGY DIRECTLY TO PRESIDENT OBAMA
McKalip apologizes for sending insensitive image via e-mail
St. Petersburg, FL (July 23, 2009) - David McKalip, M.D., brain and spine neurosurgeon of St. Petersburg has never been shy in expressing where he stands regarding President Barack Obama's health-care reform. Despite McKalip's position on health system reform, he sends a sincere apology for a forwarded image of President Obama in an e-mail depicting the president in Papua New Guinean tribal garb with a logo beneath it saying, "Obama Care."
"I genuinely regret the decision I made in passing this e-mail message along. Directly to President Obama, I sincerely apologize for offending him. This was, in no way whatsoever, my intention. The image has nothing to do with my feelings or thoughts on any race or culture. I recognize that this image is offensive and hope that the nation refocuses on assuring all Americans have access to high-quality, affordable health care with no party interfering in the patient-physician relationship. My intention is to focus directly on the issue at hand, which is putting financial and decision-making power into the hands of patients and taking it from government and insurance companies," said McKalip.
The image forwarded was from a long chain of e-mails and not created by McKalip."
One has to wonder if he's more upset that he got publically caught in his racism. Because this is what he sent his "tea bagging" friends.
"I have had a very hard day. When you stand up and fight effectively for freedom and to protect the rights of patients from control by the government and insurance companies - you develop powerful enemies. They have used the opportunity of a lapse in judgment to try to discredit me since they can't discredit my arguments. I am proud of my accomplishments in this fight. I am more proud of the hundreds of thousands of Americans I have come to know who feel as I do and are willing to stand up for freedom. The next few days will be difficult, and I ask for your support."
Yeah, I think he's sorry. Sorry he got exposed as a racist pinhead. Sorry he publically got called out on it. Sorry that it might affect his pocketbook. But sorry for the racism? Not at all.

Dr. McKalip is resigning as President-elect of the Pinellas County Medical Association
"I believe that it would be in the best interests of the Pinellas County Medical Association and its mission to serve patients, if I step down from the association at this time," McKalip wrote in his resignation letter. "I will remove myself from the debate on health system reform so that my efforts do not become a distraction to the efforts to protect patients from intrusion into their medical care by government and insurance companies."
And he's withdrawing from the public healthcare reform debate
"For now, in the interest of protecting this movement from any collateral damage, I am withdrawing from making media appearances on health system reform," McKalip wrote this morning in an email -- obtained by TPMmuckraker -- to fellow members of an online health-care discussion group affiliated with the Tea Party movement. The email went to the same recipients to which McKalip sent the original racist email."
Of course, some of his fellow teabaggers fail to understand the problem.
"In response to McKalip's announcement, many fellow Tea Partiers pledged their support. One, Nancy Meinhardt, wrote:Ok I had not seen the picture before and it reminded me of all the hellish depictions of our former Preisdent, the legitimate one. I would not have apologized to the fraudulant (sic) President. But thats (sic) just my opinion.

"In response, one recipient, Robin Stublen, listed as the "FL Co-State Coordinator Tea Party Patriots" wrote:What we cant tell them to kiss our white ass anymore? Man you guys are no fun at all."
