I realize it might be picky of me, but it's really freaking annoying when people call Apple (the company) "Mac" or worse "MAC" like it's some acronym.

The company is Apple.

The product line is Macintosh, or "Mac" for short.

MAC is a networking term for Media Access Control and has nothing to do with Apple per se. (Though a Mac will have a MAC address. And so will a PC)

I also get peeved at people referring to the computer as the CPU. The CPU is a component in the box.

I know someone who once went though and *deleted* all their "MAC addresses" bacause they had a PC, and hated "MAC's".

No, MAC is Mandatory Access Control. Labels and Bell-Lapadula and all that stuff. (or, if you're an 8500.2 type, MAC is Mission Assurance Category.

When I worked for Egghead Software, we'd have people coming in looking for "Adobe" or "Lotus"... but no clue on what the specific product they were seeking actually did, so I couldn't figure out which Adobe or Lotus product they were looking for. I'm so glad I no longer work retail.
