No *What*??? (Politics)

You know, it almost scares me to know there are people who really think this way....

"No Presidential Elections during War Times"

"Holding Presidential elections during War times, ie.Iraq, Afghanistan is not productive to our country, we need to protect our troops and not put them in harms way,"

You know, we managed to have presidential elections during the War Between the States, not to mention World War II, and there was no problems. First time I've heard the idea that supporting the constitution and being an active democracy was somehow "putting the troops in harms way".

I've seen this issue arise before. It is, of course, purest hogwash. I'd have to do the research, but I suspect the machinations necessary to suspend the election would bring on an impeachment trial. I think if it even -came up- out of the White House, the media would be all over Rove like ugly on an ape.

Oh come on. The Good Puppy media would utterly adore the idea. Look at the way they fawn over the boy king now. All it would take is some half-assed suggestion on such, the RNC would boil it down into a talking point, the next day the Moonie Times and Faux News would be reporting on it as a "support the troops" thing, Oxydittos Rush would be declaring it to be a great idea to his dittohead groupies, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Liely would be asking why anyone who was against the idea of suspending elections hated America, and AnnThrax Coulter would be calling anyone running against Shrub to be a traitor.

Me, cynical? Perish the thought.

Thankfully, there's no way to do such between now and the next election - which gives us a chance to toss the unelected fraud out of office and try to reclaim this country from the NeoCon chickenhawks running it.
