Grumpy......
May. 20th, 2004 10:44 amCouldn't sleep until 2am last night. gak.
Feeling philosophical about the helmet mess. Either a) the paint mess can be cleaned up without damaging the helmet, or b) it can't. If a, then fine, it's a minor set back. If b, then it's a fairly severe setback, but not an irreplacable one. The lenses, "greebles" and other add-ones can be used on another helmet or replaced if needed, and I still have the replacment stickers unused. While I can't afford another Altmann's, (the only reason I *have* an Altmann's in the first place is a friend gave it to me after he decided he didn't want it), a Don Post Standard is about $70, and can be made usable with some minor effort.
It just bugs me that things that should be fairly simple - like spray painting - I'm so inept at. I can cook, I can sew, I can fix plumbing, and troubleshoot most PC and Macintosh problems. I can braid, play the harp, and have a fairly good knowledge of which ends of a gun or sword to hold. But I can't seem to paint anything worth a hill of beans, and I'm not sure about this whole plastic working thing. I may need to take the armor to someone with the local 501st and say "help??"
But let's see if the Altmann's can be salvaged first. Not fretting about it one way or another. In the meantime, I'll work on the chest armor for the costume for a few more days, and then shelve the costume for a week or so while I get ready for Potrero.
Anyone know where I can buy or have made a Forest Green cotton or cotton/poly flightsuit???
