Reality check.......
Jun. 5th, 2004 05:15 pmIf someone has been out of work for over a year, and is living from day to day sleeping on various people's couches, (going from one house to another every few days), should one:
a) Look for work, try to become self-sufficent. In the meantime, use what money is not being used for busfare and job hunting to remburse people for the food and shelter you're using. Shave and get haircut to make oneself more marketable in the job market.
b) Spend time and what little money you have working on Jedi robes and Stormtrooper armor, and plan to go to the San Diego ComicCon for all four days, all the while saying that they'll look for work "when the job market improves."
Now, I would hope most of my friends would pick "a"
I walked with someone today that was living "b".
Arrrrgh.
On Edit, there's another costume he does as well. Now what Star Wars character do you think would be best to do if you're a skinny young male with long hair and a beard???
I don't think you would have picked Padme.
He, however, does dress as Padme. Complete with beard.
Whatever......

Date: 2004-06-05 07:41 pm (UTC)It's a shame, really. There are talented, creative people who have become, due to any number of reasons, be it stress, confusion or otherwise, incapable of facing the world they live in, so they choose another. Like I said, I'm not defending it, but I recognize it.
