Highway Geeking
Dec. 19th, 2004 10:16 amOn the back from Wheeler Ridge yesterday, I pulled off of I-5 south just before Ft. Tejon, to walk an old part of the Ridge Route / US 99, namely Deadman's Curve. This part dates to 1919 and is in very good condition.

This is actually part of the original ridge route from 1915. The four lane portions that you can still see portions of at Gorman and elsewhere that were part of US 99 are the Ridge Route alternate dating back to the 1930's.
Still haven't driven the 20 miles of the original Ridge Route yet. Anyone in the LA area on my friends list want to make the attempt sometime soon (rain permitting)
