her writing has been very important to me in many ways

she'll be dearly missed. She made more of a difference to writing and the world than most would realize.

I'm very sad to read of Norton's passing. An older friend who was a librarian introduced me to her books when I was a teenager. They had a strong influence on me--especially when I was in my late teens and my twenties. I might not have become a Witch or a feminist had I not read her novels, nor might I be persuing a career in a helping profession. To use the perfectly good phrase that I grew up hearing as an Episcopalian, "May light perpetual shine upon her and, through the mercy of [the] God[s], may she rest in peace!"
