Decided to see about local meetups for a couple card games I'm into (Fluxx for example), and see if there's a local SCA meetup as well.
And noticed that every single group I looked at was looking for a organizer.
I'm really starting to think that meetup.com has really shot themselves in the foot. Maybe the people at LiveJournal or OKcupid can make a meetup replacement, because meetup is sinking.

Date: 2005-05-05 12:01 am (UTC)I got an email from Meetup announcing gleefully that they had made a function for LJ Meetup members to communicate. I laughed and said, "Yeah...it's called Livejournal!". I don't know what crack they're on.

Date: 2005-05-05 12:23 am (UTC)Reminds me, I really need to get around to stepping down as the LJ Meetup organizer. I'm certainly not going to pay them $9/month for the crap they have now, nor will I ask the members to contribute if they don't have a free option (not to mention the fact that Meetup did not do ANY sort of legal research on the implications of the organizers being responsible for collecting the money and then paying Meetup instead of just charging members directly).
