(Growl.....)
Sep. 3rd, 2005 04:21 pmI don't think there are words vile enough for me to express the level of contempt I have for the people who would say or believe such......garbage.
New Orleans Residents: God's Mercy Evident in Katrina's Wake
"Rev. Bill Shanks, pastor of New Covenant Fellowship of New Orleans, also sees God's mercy in the aftermath of Katrina -- but in a different way. Shanks says the hurricane has wiped out much of the rampant sin common to the city.
The pastor explains that for years he has warned people that unless Christians in New Orleans took a strong stand against such things as local abortion clinics, the yearly Mardi Gras celebrations, and the annual event known as "Southern Decadence" -- an annual six-day "gay pride" event scheduled to be hosted by the city this week -- God's judgment would be felt.
“New Orleans now is abortion free. New Orleans now is Mardi Gras free. New Orleans now is free of Southern Decadence and the sodomites, the witchcraft workers, false religion -- it's free of all of those things now," Shanks says. "God simply, I believe, in His mercy purged all of that stuff out of there -- and now we're going to start over again.""
Funny, I thought people of *EVERY* faith, belief, orientation, whatever have been affected, harmed, made homeless, or even *killed* by this storm. I don't believe a higher power would be this indiscriminate - or this petty.
Besides, I didn't freakin' think that Gulfport, Bay St. Louis, or Biloxi were such hotbeds of sin, wickedness, and evil. (Shakes head and growls)
Also, Hurricane was sign of divine wrath, fundamentalists say.
Let me get this straight? You think that your God sent a storm that killed possibly thousands of people, caused billions in damage, and left thousands of people homeless, jobless, and without any of their belongings, simply to prevent a Gay Pride festival??? Sorry, I don't believe that Divinity is that petty.
Freaking Idiots on parade.
On edit - The stupidity continues....
Homo 'Southern Decadence' Then 'Pagan Pride Day'
"After ingesting that, then I came upon an invitation to attend Pagan Pride Day in Florida. I had to ask myself: If Katrina is what's present-tense, what's next?
Pagan Pride Day is celebrated far and wide in the United States. Now Ft. Lauderdale is set for celebrating all that is anti-Christ.
And where will the event be held? In the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ft. Lauderdale on 21st Avenue, of course.
That's where the sanctuary will be turned into the unholy environs for celebrating the dark side of existence. "
So this twit seems to be thinking that not only was New Orleans, (along with Biloxi, Gulfport, Bay St. Louis, etc.) "punished" in such an indiscriminate manner, but that Florida is next for daring to allow a "Pagan Pride Day" festival. Because, after all, they're doing such unholy things like: "be the high spot for a family picnic and food drive (bring non-perishable food items and clothing to donate to the Cooperative Feeding Program)."
I repeat, idiots on parade.

Yeah, and short many (previously) living babies too for that matter. To say nothing of adults. Besides that, it's decended into so much chaos, women are getting raped in shelters...you think THAT's gonna cut down on abortions? Or, failing that, suicides? I'd also be willing to bet that more than one pregnant woman has miscarried due to this; so abortions aren't OK but this IS?! Jeez Louise.
New Orleans now is Mardi Gras free. New Orleans now is free of Southern Decadence and the sodomites,
It's also free of many churches, hospitals, pharmacies, soup kitchens, fire stations, and homeless shelters. New Orleans is now free of ACTUAL mercy or charity on any large scale.
the witchcraft workers, false religion -- it's free of all of those things now.
That's...just...laughable. This fucktard probably thinks the Tsunami was God punishing "false religion" too, what with all those Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists what got wiped out. And does this idiot think that that's the only place with people who are non-Christian (his definition of the word, I mean)?
Idiot, idiot, idiot.
Makes me think that if there is a God, and he was the smiting sort, he'd be a bit more selective with that smiting.
Pagan Pride Days ARE everywhere
Date: 2005-09-03 04:43 pm (UTC)As anyone who knows me knows, I am slow to true anger. But this week has pushed me beyond Outrage Overload and I'd love to smack some people soundly in the head with a clue-by-four. Staring with the moron at the top who interfered with rescue and recovery efforts so he could get his photo op. I saw him on TV last night, "comforting" those two young women -- too bad the media didn't have the sound on. There's a transcript of Dear Leader in his all his idiotic glory on DailyKos.
Wibble.
Re: Pagan Pride Days ARE everywhere
Date: 2005-09-03 08:27 pm (UTC)A friend of mine said "It didn't take this long to get help to Florida last year", to which I said "Yeah, but Bush isn't running for election this year, and his brother's not the governor of Mississippi, Alabama, or Louisiana. Which means he doesn't care." (and face it, Bush has a known problem showing up when he's supposed to in Alabama).
And guess who got the contract to rebuild the damaged military bases in the area. Halliburton. What a *surprise* (choke)
One of the interesting things of being an expat right now. I'm getting my news from BBC world service and CNN International. Amazingly enough, CNN International actually has a gorram clue about *reporting*, unlike CNN America's "Fox Lite" coverage.

"Bill O'Reilly is trying with all his might to make this story about 'thugs' and bad Democrats but both Fox news reporters on the ground are having none of it."
Hopefully, hopefully, the tide is turning with this one. To paraphrase Kirk, gods know we've paid for it with dear blood.
