I'm building up quite the list of places I'm looking forward to sharing with Little Bit when I bring her up here (for a visit or extended amount of time)

Washington State Ferries.

The Fremont Troll.

Quite a few other places on the list of where I want to go.

Today was one of them.

I went to the Future of Flight in Everett, Got to look at pretty airplanes. Got to stand next to the tail of a 747. Got to sit in the captain's position on a 727 cockpit *(WHEEE! All the pretty knobs and switches! And me with only a long-expired single engine rating.......) Got to see more pretty airplanes....

Then board a bus and off to the mucking huge building that houses Boeing's 747, 777, and 787 aseembly lines. Got to see one of the world's largest jigsaw puzzles as they put chunks o' 747 together. Got to see one of the even bigger 747 "Dreamlifter" expanded cargo planes used to ship 787 wings from Japan.

Wow.

Was fun.

Look forward to sharing this with Little Bit :-)

You may want to take her to the Museum of flight too. If you dont get the paper, pick up a Seattle Times on Thursday. They have a magazine insert thingy called The Weekender. It has a listing of things to do, some of which are free. It will also tell you what museum etc has a free day, and what day of the week/month it is.

The Woodland Park Zoo and the Northwest Trek are both fascinating places. The Northwest Trek is similar to the San Diego Wild Animal Park, but it features North American animals and not African ones. Pikes Place is fun. The Seattle Children's Museum is a fun place. The Seattle Aquarium is fun. Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center, which is next door, is quite fascinating. I am not sure how she would react to Pioneer Square. It is fascinating to me, but perhaps she should be older when she goes. There is outside of Seattle Snoqualmie Falls. I also remember that in the Cascades along Highway 2 which follows the Snoholmie? or Skyholmie? River and there are a ton of water falls just to the side of the highway. If you wish for a longer trip, there is the Applets and Cotlets Candy factory in Cashmere. Always a fascinating tour showing how the candy is made and you get free samples.

Oh and don't forget Tillicum Villiage on Blake Island. It is a Native American cultural center. They have demonstrations of carving of masks, totum poles and canoes. They also have a Salmon Potlatch dinner and afterward a demonstration of Native American dancing.

I highly recommend NW Trek. I have memberships with guest passes at the Zoo, Aquarium, and Science Center, as well as a 10 year-old who is always happy to go along ^_^

Highway 2 would be the Skykomish ("Sky") River. I'm always happy to drag people around outdoors, as well. If you need outside recs, just ask.

I've wanted to go see Everett...when I was born my father worked as an Engineer at Boeing but we moved when I was 3. (For those not acquainted with my age, that was the days of the 707 and B-52)

How tall is she? They have a 4-ft height limit for the tour.
