It does make sense about that character. (though I'm sure it will give some groups yet more reasons to hate the series - as if they needed anymore.)

Okay, so Dumbledore is gay. It does explain certain aspects about the character, and makes his view on love more understandable. He lost his beloved, (and had to defeat him magically) rather than turn to the Dark Arts, which ALSO explains why he was such a strong opponent to the Dark Arts and those who practiced them.

It IS going to fuel those who already try to ban the books though - not to mention that they're going to claim that the only reason why Dumbledore was trying to mentor Harry was because he was trying to get under Harry's quiddich robes. *Sigh*

My three cents? Why should it matter?

It got her back in the news, right at the same time as her reading tour. Ah, the Power of Marketing.

My mother even phoned me this morning to tell me. Now that's marketing!

I thought that as an author, you really WANT your book to get banned, because it winds up be advantageous in the long run.

*chuckle* It certainly doesn't hurt sales. And after all, for protesters to burn one's books, they have to BUY the books in the first place

Brace yourselves ... just a matter of time before an influx of Dumbledore/Voldemort "goodness".

Well, I'm going to sound stupid because I haven't read the last 2 books (and quite frankly I'm not sure I want to), but who really cares about the "sexuality" of a fictional character in a series of books that is complete, AND where that character has been killed off? I liked the Dumbledore character, but sheesh.. we're talking about occurrences that were NEVER mentioned in the books, and won't be because there aren't anymore books. This whole thing is completely for promotional reasons, imo.

I like fanfic as much as the next person, but it should at least be based on something that originated from the original work (tv, movie, book, etc.), at least that's how I feel.
