Interesting article
Jul. 13th, 2005 11:20 amRead an interesting article on the London bombings and suggestions on how to deal with homeland security issues and terrorism from Gen. Wesley Clark.
Al-Qaeda has changed; Bush strategy also needs to shift
"Relentless pressure by the CIA, Special Forces and many other national intelligence and police efforts has made the old, centralized structure of al-Qaeda unworkable.
And we need to keep up the pressure. But al-Qaeda's new threat is decentralized. Thursday's attacks in London have all the earmarks of such a "franchise" operation, locally planned and resourced with relatively modest means, emulating al-Qaeda without the vulnerabilities of centralized resourcing and direction."

Just figured out what I was doing wrong and finally got Vonage's softphone to work properly.
Now all I have to do is set it up on my laptop - which is currently being borrowed by the San Diego Star Wars Society to help run their Comic Con booth.
Next week. But it looks like I'll have the VoIP and a 619 number ready and able to be used while I'm in Qatar.

That is not comforting
Jul. 13th, 2005 04:48 pmSaw today a bottle of Witch Hazel astringent, that billed itself: "...with all the gentleness of nature."
Gee, does that mean it burns like a jellyfish ? Or like a bumblebee ? Does it make your face feel like a antelope being brought down and killed by a lion? Or simply like molten lava flowing from a volcano??
Ya know, nature isn't that gentle.....
