On Target

"Recessed into a urinal is a pressure-sensitive display screen. When the guest uses it, he triggers an interactive game, producing images and sound. The reduced size of the “target” improves restroom hygiene and saves on cleanings costs (like the “fly in the urinal” at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport). It also makes a trip to the urinal “fun and games” – more than just a necessary nuisance. By projecting the game experience into the public space, viewers are treated to a new way of visualizing the abstract, and the entertainment value is boosted. The projection of the project into a museum space was conceived of as a critical-ironic measure, questioning the concept of art, but extending it at the same time. “On target” is an interactive installation with the functional purpose of improving hygiene."

U.S. warns Germany on World Cup sex workers

"The German government, while defending its policy of legalized prostitution, emphatically denies that it condones human trafficking and says it has intensified efforts to combat it.

Rep. Christopher Smith, R-New Jersey, chairman of the House subcommittee on global human rights, urged Germany last month to recriminalize prostitution and suggested that it should be reclassified as an "egregious violator" of human trafficking.

Germany's sex-industry entrepreneurs have made no secret of their expectation of a boom as hundreds of thousands of visitors arrive for the World Cup. At the four-story, 40-bedroom Artemis brothel which opened in Berlin last fall, manager Egbert Krumeich predicted business -- normally 130 clients a day -- could double or triple during the 32-nation tournament.

Prostitution is legal in Germany, with about 400,000 registered sex workers who pay taxes and receive social benefits. However, the government says forced prostitution is not tolerated and it denies Smith's claim that it is helping build brothels."

What part of "Independent Country" does Rep. Smith not understand?? If the people working there are adults and are working there of their own free will, I don't see what business it is of the US or any other country to whine and moan. Does Rep. Smith also lobby his Nevada colleages in the house because prostitution in that state is still legal?? Is the Netherlands, Australia, or New Zealand also going to end up listed as an "egregious violator" ??

This makes as much sense as KSA protesting the US government because they don't force women to cover their entire bodies.

The BBC on the June 6 2006 hoopla.....

"The Nick of time"

"The Temple of Set takes a more solemn view. This is another breakaway from the Church of Satan, claiming a history of several thousand years, and "formally incorporated in 1975 CE".

Louise Renard is a priestess and assistant to the executive director in London. "There is nothing significant about that day or that number" she says. "Unless the new Omen movie turns out to be better than expected."

Top 15 Playmobil Toys of Yesteryear

"1) Isolation Island—When your parents buy you this lonely man stuck on a patch of sand in the middle of the ocean with nothing to his name except a palm tree and a message in a bottle... Playmobil marketers know you will plead with Mom and Dad to buy you a Castaway's Raft so you can escape. Except the Castaway's Raft comes with a shark. There is no kid in the world who would let that shark go hungry."

They *STILL* didn't show the "Temple Knight" figure!! All it needed was a Playmobil Jaccuqe DeMolay.........
