I've been keeping an eye on how 3-D "printing" or prototyping has been developing, with the technology getting more portable and more sophisticated.

And realizing it wouldn't be a surprise that within ten years, we'll have a setup that can be, oh, say, wheeled into a dealers room at the start of a con and have props, costuming parts and supplies made or prototyped as one waits.

Be interesting to see how that develops.

Does ABS polish up nicely? The 3D printers I've heard of don't produce smooth surface finishes, but you might be able to mend that with five minutes and a belt sander.
